Stand definitely limits me. I'm thinking about picking up a 15gal or 20gal high and having glass cut. It'll stick out the back a little bit but that won't bother me.

Any other ideas? Thought about getting a custom sump but pretty sure that, while I could afford it, it wouldn't be the best use of my reefing money. I might still be convinced. Might run over to SEA tomorrow to look at their stuff.

I've also looked at the Aqueon Proflex sumps and eshopps sumps. Might be able to fit a Reef Octopus NWB-110 skimmer in those but it'd be tight. So, other options?

Current tank is a BC29 so I'm not familiar with the joy of running a sump yet. Or plumbing. Or a return pump with a flow rate faster than I can pee.

Personally, I wouldn't use any "tall" or "high" tank. Generally the height makes it extremely difficult to use a protein skimmer. Especially taking it in and out for cleaning. If you can't find a tank to fit, you may look at having a sump built. There are several guys around here that would and can do that. Under my 93 cube, I had actually taken two pre-made sumps and configured them to fit the space. In my 180, I modified two pre-made sumps then stacked them (per a drawing on Melevsreef). Just think outside the box.

Good point about the high tank and the skimmer. Thank you! I'd thought about setting up a 10gal fuge to gravity drain down to the sump but thought that might be making life more difficult than necessary. I need to do some measuring and see what I can come up with.

Did some more looking and eshopps does have a refugium sump that would work with my stand. $210 which isn't terrible IMO but 2 10gal or 15gal tanks as sump and fuge should be significantly cheaper. Would like as large a refugium as possible.

Eshopps does make a good unit but I find them to be a bit pricey. I think you can probably come up with something that will be more than sufficient for less money (if money is an object). Again...go look at all the sump designs on Melevsreef.com. He's built some really nice units over the years. I used his stacked design and it works like a charm!

Under my 60 cube is an Aqueon 20 long. It fit under my stand perfectly. I baffled off 3 chambers with Acrylic(cut for me to exact size at Lowes). Secured the baffles with GE clear doors and windows silicone. One chamber for me skimmer, one for chaeto and live rock rubble and, one for the return pump. My 60 cube is Reef Ready. Been up and running for 4 months and all is well. I'm running a Nova A4 LED from reefbreeders as my DT light source. Run a plain old 65K for my refugium light.

What size is your stand? Looks like a 20 long is ~30 inches which would mean sticking at the back 6" lol! And I don't want my wife to find out how long that really is!

Ok, maybe that is in poor taste. But I'm ex-navy. Cut me some slack before reporting me to HR please.
