Picked up a new to me tank over the weekend it also came with the sump it’s about 5ft long. The guy told me it did have a leak. Once I got home I grilled the 280 gallon tank full of water and white vinegar to 1 give it a cleaning and soaking, and 2 check for leaks. Tank is good and I did the same to the sump and sure enough it does leak. I have read that silicone does not stick very well to acrylic. What other ways to repair the sump or should I just toss it and buy a new one?

You should toss it... into my yard, so I can have it. Lol, jk.

Acrylic can be repaired. But correct, you don’t want to use silicone. Instead, look for an Acrylic bonding agent. It’ll bond the acrylic into a single piece, as if there was never a crack/hole to begin with. Good as new!
