... wow.. just thinking about it causes my mind to hurt a little!

does anyone actually REMOVE their sump and CLEAN it.. (and all the components)?

In theory it sounds pretty simple.... remove equipment.. remove pumps... siphon out water.. slide out... clean...return...

Never done that...I do, however, vacuum the sump bottom with a wet/dry as part of a water change when it needs it, and I pull the entire protein skimmer for a good cleaning once in a great while, instead of just the collection cup.

I keep Powerheads in my sumps to make sure nothing settles and gets skimmed out. Not much to clean. :)

Same here. When all the dirt and detritus starts showing up, I vacuum mine out. Its better to drain the water first with a pump and then pull the last 2 inches or so out with the wet vacuum. That way to do not have to empty the wet vac numberous times.

I agree with Dave and Oz, I vacume mine every water change. I pump all the water I can up to the DT, Siphone out some from the Dt, then vacume the rest out of the sump. I may bet a little bit more stuff in my sump beccause the way my fuge is plumbed. I can't get my sump out of the cabinent. I do like to wipe everything down under there to remove any salt creep.

Edit: I meant to add that I added a powerhead in the sump to see if It would stir it up a lil better. I havent installed any baffles so it just a 20 long under there
