So I picked up a 200 gallon . I'm gonna creat a sump out of a 55 gallon tank my question is is this large enough

Is that the widest tank that would fit under there? A regular 55 is not wide enough for most of the larger skimmers that you would use for that size tank

A couple of things I like to consider-

1- will the unfilled volume of the sump during operation be sufficient to contain the draining of any tank & plumbing water to static levels after a power outage or shut down?
(otherwise, it will go on the floor!)

2- is the volume of the sump sufficient to to allow for the things I want it to contain?
ex: skimmer, return pump, filter media, macro algae, fleece roller, socks, rubble/ceramic media, specimen acclimation/isolation chamber, etc.

3- is the volume sufficient to keep velocity of flow slow enough to allow sufficient media contact time & prevent other problems from too high of a flow?

Oh no. It’s as important in a FOWLR if that’s what you’re doing. Probably more so since they’re usually stocked with more fish.

I figured since I won't have coral in there I won't have a need for a skimmer

My thought on skimmers is that their main benefit is gas exchange. They help balance the carbonate-bicarbonate levels in marine aquaria. CO2 is much more soluble than O2.

Nutrient export arising from the foam fractionation which occurs, is a fortunate byproduct.
