Need some advice on breaking this monster in. I've had it running for a couple weeks now. Instructions say it takes 3 weeks to break in. At what level should I have the water (which is the water level below the bubbles) for this period of time? I've been playing around with the level but so far am not getting major sludge. Does it really take 3 weeks and what is the best level you have found to keep the water?

When I got my octopus I kept the gate valve wide open for 2 weeks. Once it starts coating the neck with sludge adjust to your liking. Sone skim dry some skim wet. Mine is about in the middle

I am on week 2 of breaking in the same skimmer. Mine sits in about 9" of water and the gate valve is wide open. The skimmer cup is about 1" full of sludge already.

Mine's on a 210 gallon. I'll try opening the gate valve all the way and see how it works.
