It actually has far more to do with the shape of their teeth. IE- snowflake are crustacean eaters and have blunted teeth, weheras dragons are fish eaters, and have numeorus pointy needle teeth.

Zebra's have the same teeth, rounded
 
Just in case someone didn't get just how small this guy is. This is a pic of him next to a suction cup on a heater. He is eating Mysis.
