Ok so my water params I will post in the morning, they are usually right on. All my LPS is swollen-bloated. Anybody got any ideas on why this might be happening. I have candy cane, frogspawn, hammer, and several Acans. All polyps are very large. I got the hammer from Gnashty's tank and its polyps were small and normal sized in his tank. After a couple of days in my tank they are blown up double the size they were in his tank. All my lps looks good as far as color and grow like crazy.

I keep my kh in the 9-10 level do you think this may cause it?

I like the look of the smaller polyps vs my bloated look.

it means they are happy, try lowering your alk if you dont like it.

could be a response to lighting lps will swell like that wen lighting is to low the larger polops alow more light to be absorbed smaller polops less i keap my frog spawn higher in the tank so it keaps the smaller polops and helps me rember wen i nead to change bulbs

It is a response to 'something'. You just have to find out what that something is. Since switching to LEDs from my T5's, the T5's had MUCH more direct light/power over the LPS. My candy canes and Trumpet corals have gone back/forth from shrinking to bloating, and now a few months in they are adjusted and back to "normal".

My brain which had received WAY too much light for 2 years and was shrunken tight & lost a lot of color, has puffed up nicely and is coloring up beautifully.

The same can happen if the tank gets "off" in some element (in mine, generally if the ALk swings too high or low).

Ultimately, it's a good visual indicator that something has changed that you may want to keep an eye on or investigate further.

Its been just the way it is in my tank, I'm thinking its the lights now that you mention it. I've got really old bulbs and need some new ones, 8 bulb nova t-5

No. I'm suggesting that they were in feeding mode when they were "puffy".

Pics would be helpful, but many LPS get all distended when they are eating.

Blake, those corals have been kept under a 6 lamp fixture. I only used the actinic most of the time so really only 2 lamps were on a majority of the photo period.

nah they are like that all day long Jenn, I'll post some pics tonite. My tank is destroyed from me trying to get rid of the maidens hair algae.
