Anyone got a run down on why the T5 is much better. Its seems to have a lower wattage (maybe I'm reading it wrong, I'm new to this) than my Coralife 96 watt. The CF is actually more expensive...does it just give a different kind of light than the CF or what?

I am still hung up on this issue. I just got a T5 light, for a crazy deal...I'm waiting for tank to recover from an issue before I switch everything over...

I know that if I want the really nice corals, I gotta have T5 or metal, but I just dont understand why...

Good question...I'm currently setting up a 95 gallon reef tank in my basement and this answers a question I had. Good to know...

+1 on everything above.

I didn't know the difference when i started and i had a bunch of brown zoo's under CF. I thought that was their color. I put in a couple T5's and they turned purple green and orange.

i too ask myself this same question. Im currently running a 96w p.c over a 20 gallon and have been dreaming about a nice set of T-5 or halides. But, i was at a petstore earlier this week and this guy had clams and anemones under the same 96w p.c setup,...thats unheard of but they were doing great! :confused2:

Well, it's not unheard of but it is advised against. I'd be interested to see if they're still "doing great" after a few months under CFs (and I think I know what the answer would be even though my crystal ball is in the shop).

Dawgdude hooked me up in another thread...I'm gonna wait to see if Chris @ Fishscales can get them for me before I order from the site...just holding it up over the tank...very cool and so much of a difference...
