I am wondering how many tangs would be a good fit in a 250 gallon tank along with some clowns and a few other fish?

This should be a good one!!! Depends on many variables. Type/species, how introduced and husbandry skills.

Is this a 6' tank?

It totally depends on the tangs.

The Ctenochaetus</em> tangs stay on the smaller size for tangs and could be housed comfortably in a 250. The Zebrasoma</em> tangs could fit as could a Paracanthurus hepatus </em>(if the tank is 6'). All the Naso</em> species need 8' tanks or longer.

I would recommend only one tang per genus to reduce aggressive behavior.

What are you thinking?

I was thinking about a naso tang and a yellow tang. What about the acanthurus species.

An Acanthurus and a yellow should be ok size-wise. Some of the Acanthurus can be mean though.

I have a 300 and have the following tangs: Purple, Powder Blue, Blond Naso, Chevron, Clown, Achilles, African Regal, Desjardini Sailfin and a Tomini. I know, CRAZY!!
