6 months ago my tank crashed, I lost a lot of coral and a few fish. I also had a hair algae outbreak I could not get under control. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, after getting a wild hair, I decided to rebuild a section of my scape. While removing a large rock it broke and out pops a very rusty razor blade. I’ve been treating the problem with Cuprisorb and the tank is on the mend. I did not do a water change as the tank has been on auto water changes for over a year. I have added a few SPS and they are all doing fine so far. But here’s the kicker, the crash also killed every bristleworm and every hydroid. What did not die was a volunteer (I don’t know where it came from) scallop/clam that I noticed in my tank about 2 years ago and 3 nassarius snails I’ve also had for over a year. I would have thought they would be among the first to go.
