I have had my tank running for about 2 weeks now. I dumped in live sand and I also dumped in 10 gallons of my firends water change water as well. I have a 400watt MH running (old bulb). How long before I see the tank start to cycle?

start testing every day (or every couple days) for ammonia ..

if there's ammonia present in your system.. you're not finished cycling yet..

(I let my tank cycle for about 8 weeks.. my ammonia spike started around week 2-3 and was very quick.. - one, two days maybe)

I let the system run for another month after ammonia measured 0 before I put the clean up crew in..

I shall test it tonight when my son goes to sleep. I am hoping that i have 0 ppm's on that.

Barbra, I never moved, I was TDY to Kirtland AFB for 9 months doing some training for my new job. I am back home in GA now and decided to start from scratch on all my corals and rock. I like the challange of making a small frag survive and grow into a colony.
