Tank Lid?

ok 2 questions.

How important is it to have a lid on a around 30g reef/fish tank?
The reason I ask is that the lid is an extra $18 and I never had a lid on a sw tank before.

Has anyone ordered from glasscages.com?
I have never ordered from them but am exploring my options.

A solid top will prevent gas exchange but will keep jumpers in. It is a trade off. Might want to ask around about Glass Cages. I don't have any experience but I seem to remember reading a lot of threads that didn't have much good to say about them.

If all you want is cheap, gc is the way to go. If you want quality, look elsewhere.

You don't want glass lids for your tank.

I made a top for my 93 using window screen Frame and nylon netting that BRS sells. It keeps the jumpers in and allows plenty of light penetration and gas exchange.

that's what i've done. apart from the netting from BRS, you can get everything you need from home depot for less then $10.
