I think equipment will be hit the hardest, like all our pumps, filters, skimmers, and all the plastic bits and bobs we use. Tanks will also get more expensive, as China makes 29% of the world's glass, including most of our tanks. Livestock will be affected too, but probably at a lower rate. Tariffs on Indonesia and Thailand (two examples of countries where a lot of fish and corals come from) are at 32% and 36%. Given that aquaculture and mariculture are long-term operations and are heavily climate and region dependent, I doubt they will relocate to avoid tariffs.

Why does China manufacture everything? Cheap labor?
Because in the 1980s and '90s all the CEOs decided to make themselves wealthier by offshoring all jobs that could be done cheaper by people they could pay a hell of a lot less to make inferior products that don't last, and completely obliterated America's manufacturing capacity, because people here actually expected to be paid a fair wage according to American standards of living to make a decent product which resulted in significantly slimmer profit margins than could be obtained overseas.
In return, China, always more than happy to abuse its vast population, and with wanton disregard for the environment, was more than happy to pick up the slack.

And now a lot of manufacturing stays in China due to their many years of experience and the sheer number and scale of factories available. There are plenty of other poorer countries where labor is cheaper these days. Setting up shop in China is just easy.
We still manufacture a lot of the really high tech stuff here in the US. Some of our biggest exports are heavy machinery, industrial equipment, aircraft, and pharmaceuticals. We also export services like software, entertainment, and financial services. We just don't make mountains of cheap, low margin consumer goods here.

We won’t feel the full effect until the bulk inventory ordered before deminis and the April tariffs got hardcore implemented is sold. I’m sure they’ll find a way to setup drop shipping in Mexico or somewhere to circumvent the process as normal. It’s beeeiiilllllllions and beeeiiiilllllions of dollars worth of stuff lol
I expect WB, RS, etc. aquariums to skyrocket and American made tank companies to do much better though. I bet aftermarket/resell skyrockets too

Sad for me... I still need a skimmer and a supplemental light bar. And maybe another DMP-10. And a Nanomat Roller. Could probably use another EB8. And probably some other stuff too.
At least I managed to get as much as I have before the tariffs kicked in and am not starting from scratch today.
And I managed to buy a car this week without it being one of the worst times in the market to do so. Maybe my luck is improving... bit only in fits and starts, lol.

Ps. I work for company out of Chicago. Manufacturing everything here is USA. So I am all about supporting USA. I compete against German and Japanese products.

Quanta lights are 'designed and engineered' by a guy in the US but they are manufactured in China by a factory called Herifi. Orpheks are also made in China. Radions are assembled in PA, USA, but they still source the parts from China. I've not been able to find any info on where Current USA stuff is manufactured, but I would be shocked if they did any more than final assembly here. Truly made in the USA aquarium products are incredibly rare.
Side note: Aquaforest is an interesting brand because a lot of their stuff is made in the EU (Poland). Red Sea is from Israel and their stuff is made in a variety of places, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, China, and some others I believe.
Just bought a 200 gallon tank... arrives in a few months. Probably time to start buying all the accessories before prices skyrocket even more...
