No really. I have a pair and they OWN my 180. I want em out and I don't want to disassemble the tank to do it.

Suggestions?

Like you mention, if I myself took them out from your tank I will set your tank free of those bugs and free of your fishes ;)

Ugh... I need to make a MASSIVE fish trap. One that catches a lot if fish. That's the only way I'm getting them out. They're too cautious to go into the fish trap I've got.

What has worked for me in my 220 is to put some food in the water to get the fish swimming out in the open near the top. Turn off the lights to the room that you are in and then turn off the tank light. I usually have my husband hold a flashlight to give the room a little bit of light. Next, I use a fish net to catch the fish or use the fish net to chase the fish into a tupperware. This trick works really well when the lights are first turned off. It has helped me catch three fox faces, two clowns, and a fat yellow tang. Good luck.

various fish traps will most like work, however there are many tips from members, so don't give up...

this method is a LAST DITCH only after all have been exhausted....

Many, many moons ago....I needed to get (2 different times) a Yellow Tang & Talibots Damsel......

during a water change, where the water level was already low.....
I bought some fishing net from bass pro (without metal sinkers) and cut it up in sections...I cordoned off each area of the aquarium, as you know it would always move away from the net until the fish could be caught in a net...

+1
I do this in densely planted fw tanks so I don't destroy the aquaskapeing .
My guys swim in and eat from my hands regularly but when the nets come in to play they know what time it is .
I flip off the room lights and use a table lamp in the corner , feed them then kill the tank lights , there eyes adjust slowly.
Iv also had luck nabbing them at 5:30am by finding them in the dark and then flipping on the lights they all stumble out looking drunk . But its usually not convenient to catch fish in the early am most times.
Good luck

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've tried a few of these methods. I have "the trap"... basically the clear acrylic cylinder. It didnt work. The only fish I can consistently catch is the hippo (he never learned from the adventures catching the flame a year ago.

I have also tried the lights out... then lights on approach; however, these bartletts hide in a spot that I cant get to.

I'm trying a gallon jug now with food in it... I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'll be trying something along the lines you outlined above Charlie if this doesnt go well.

You have to do it early in the morning after they've been sleeping for awhile. I used a fish trap for two weeks and every fish went into it except the one I wanted to catch. I was leaving for Florida the next day at 4 AM. I turned the lights on, he came out to see what was up and SNAG! What took me two weeks to try to accomplish I did in 20 seconds!

I have wanted to remove my foxface from my 65g. I read this thread and decided tonight was the night. My lights go off at 12:00 am and my tank is completely dark. I waited until 1:30 am and turned my tank lights on max. He was completely in a trance. I put the net in and literally pushed him into it! He never even attempted to swim away. I could have given him a belly rub :) I will vouch for the lights on trick, worked for me 1st attempt.
