Tell me why this is a dumb idea.

So if I have some aphasia or palys that I want to kill and I can't take the rock out or whatever. Why not get a dark pcv pipe, stick it in the tank to cover it and put a UV light in the pipe to kill it?

This seems to easy. So easy that there's got to be a reason people don't do it and I just don't know why.

which UV？ are you sure that the UV will be powerful enough to kill it? or are you referring to laser?

um...so just some random thoughts

1. ...what the...
2. i dont understand that core concept of your idea...you mean to just cover the aptasia with a dark pipe and blast it with a uv light?
3. uv lights can barely kill free floating algae - i'm not sure how they would kill anything with more substantial mass
4. i would guess that the aptasia would laugh and then multiply 10x to teach you a lesson

Yeah, #2 this is why I thought it might be dumb. I thought if to high of UV would kill coral it would kill other things. NVM.

I might go there but I don't have a way to quarantine right now. It's on a rock with a RBTA and someone gave me a tip to get it off but I'm going out of town soon and I don't want it to move while I'm gone.
