Your daily temp swing can easily be managed by fans. Just be prepared for the extra evaporation that comes with evaporate cooling. On a 90 to drop a couple degrees, it shouldn't be all that bad. On my 210, it was up to 3 gallons per day before I decided to go with a chiller. Just be careful of the max temp your tank hits. 80 is a safe max temp.
Real reef average temperatures do vary several degrees throughout the year. See this link for temps around Fiji: http://www.naia.com.fj/fiji.php?climate-water-temperature-2">http://www.naia.com.fj/fiji.php?climate-water-temperature-2</a>
Day to day variations also exist. Deep water areas typically vary less than 1 degree throughout the day while reef crest areas can vary 2-6 degrees or up to 12 degrees in rare, extreme situations.
I use the seasonal temperature variation feature of my Neptune Apex controller to slowly vary my tank temps from around 75 to 80.5 through the year. I have found that some corals and inverts prefer cooler temps while others like warmer. Varying the temp through the year gives each of my inhabitants some time at their preferred temps which I believe allows them to better tolerate the temps they may not prefer. Look at it this way, humans can tolerate 110+ degrees but would you like to live in a place where it was 110+ every day of the year?
