I know ideally we want to keep it around 76-78. I was noticing today, since I have been with it all day that my temp was hovering around 79-80. Is this too hot and if not what is the point where you go, I need a chiller?

Thanks for the information everyone! As always good information, quickly!

Mine stays at 77 at night and gets up to 77.5 at the hottest during the day. I run a chiller of course. I think that stability is key. Even if you have it at 83. As long as the temp does swing much throughout the day. Your coral won't mind.

IMO when it comes to temp the best thing you want is stability. IE a swing of no more the 1.5-2 degrees.

And for what it's worth my tank is around 74 degrees.
