Try to find some information on how to build an aquarium stand for a hundred twenty gallon aquarium, four foot by two foot. But I do not want to use two by fours.I want it to be nice looking like the ones you see at the store and cabinet grade. Just wondering anybody has any information on that?

In that case, you can just build the stand with 2x4s and then skin it with nice plywood. You get the strength of the 2x4s with the nice look of the plywood. Probably some good YouTube videos on that.

What I have done in the past is bought a nice piece of furniture like a buffet at a 2nd hand shop and then built a cage of 2x4s Inside...you could have put 1000 pounds on it.

That’s a good idea if you found what you wanted - you could do an IKEA cabinet as well. And if you didn’t want 4x2 you could frame it with t-slot aluminum

2-2x4 rectangle frames with plywood tops

Workout the height you want

Set 2 -2x4 in each corner on top of bottom frame and then the other frame on top of those, secure with L brackets or toe-nail the screws. Wrap with a nice plywood, trim etc, stain and poly

I've built all my stands with a 2x4 frame then "skinned" with what ever cabinet plywood is wanted. I've built a few custom stands for others that don't have the time/skill/knowledge. All joints notched, glued, and screwed.
