Hey, my son was the one that got the 10 gal tank at the auction Jan's meeting. Several of you were interested in seeing his build. Well.....since we are laid up here nursing his hand, we are starting it today. We added a nano filter into it so we had flow/filter together and are aquascaping in just a few. If anyone has any advice on running a tank this size and especially any pictures (for his viewing pleasure) please share. Thank you all and will post pics as soon as we can.

My little 10g before I took it down.

I'm sure he will want to move up soon also. He was going to build it at school but was worried about other kids messing around in it. After I was just reading the matainace on them it's prob just as well. I'm going to find another tank for the classroom. I had brought them a nano but it continuously has problems.
I saw someone else's 3 10 stack and then they moved in a 20 long. That looks good, so if anyone sees a 20 long let me know. For the near future.

That is so cool that he is going to have his own 10 gallon. I look forward to see his progress.

Good luck nursing the hand.

This is my current 10 gallon, growing out some corals and planning on upgrading to a 20 long soon as well.

well, here it is for now. Put some live and some 1/2 live rock into it so it is sit and wait time. Have to dig out a heater and add it but other than that, this is it for now. We are looking for a little clip light for it if anyone see's one for a good price let us know.
His plans:
A clown (of course)
now that he saw Eliphant's he likes the Blenny.
some coral, a frogspawn, LoTR zoas, cany cane, toad stool, and a hammerhead.
(This is mostly what he knows but he is excited and getting into planning.)
That's probably all or more than the tank can handle. He will be just getting frags of what I have probably so we don't lose anything crazy.

Off to a fine start. I have some nano heaters and I really wish I'd thought about it at the meeting cause I would have just given you one. I'll send you a PM when I get home, but I'm pretty sure I can hook you up with some shrooms, a frogspawn, and I might even have some LOTR zoas floating around my frag tank.

Hey, we got his first addition! A tomato clown, no yet named. He is HUGE! I also have two of my frags from last nite in here testing also. Now we are just looking for something for her to home in and some small frags to start decorating.

had trouble getting pic to show, maybe this one will work.

What are you using for lighting on a tank that size. I set up a 5 gal that my husband bought for my Bday. I am planning on keeping a seahorse in it eventually and a few corals, but for now all I have is a full spectrum CF light. Do they sell little clip on lights for these?

Here are a few pics of my 5 g right after I set it up. (used water and lr from the 55g)

Right now it is just the cheap light that came with it but I bought a PC bulb and am looking for a desk lamp to put it in. I'm also looking for a couple of frags for it also, mainly some Frogspawn and zoas. I have one small set of zoas in it now and also had to add two fish from other tank for a second. I would like to get the MH clip that i've seen at some stores but it is not in the budget right now. You 5 looks good!

Thanks! I was at the LFS today and found a 12" T5 that would fit it. It runs about $60 there and isn't in my budget right now either. I just picked up another frag of zoas for it. I did find out that zenia doesn't like my little tank:( so it went back into the 55.

There is a black box in the back right side that is a filter for up to 30 gallons. It has the two air things coming out the side. Not a lot of flow out though IMO, had to add another ph but there still doesn't seem to be alot in there.

oh, and thanks, nice of you to offer! As for the light, if this doesn't work that seems like a winner.

I used a small table top fountain pump for the PH in mine. It's not a ton of flow but moves the water. Everything has a slight sway to it so I know there is a current. And its small only about 2"X2". I thought a regular PH would be too big for this tank.
