My goodness. Two hours in and I still have done nothing.

SOmeone come over and have a beer while we do this

note to self pfc has an apex I know who to call when I get one ha ha

what are you having a hard time with, most of the routines are pre-programmed, just tell it what type of thing you're pluggin in and you can make adjustments from there. I had a tough time getting my tunze' to do a wave when they are on opposite ends of the tank but I seem to have figured it out.

there's a ton of help out there if you just search "apex ____" really helpful stuff you can copy paste.

I don't think they send out a cd anymore Kris. If you need the latest version you download it off their site. Make sure to turn off your firewall first or you will still be wondering why it won't download a few hours from now...

There is no CD. Download the new APEX installation guide. They've simplified it.

unless they have changed it in the last month or so then they should still make the cd. my friend just got an apex lite in march and his had the cd with it

There is a neptune forum youcan join. It's VERY helpful! Here's the link:

Hmmm...maybe it's different with the lite. I got my Apex in February and it didn't come with a cd.

Kris, what software version is your apex running? Mine came with the newest version already installed.

^^^^^^ .... +1 on what he said; "But honestly you don't need it." Chris, here is a link that will open the manual. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Media/PDF/79048-ApexManual.pdf">http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Media/PDF/79048-ApexManual.pdf</a> Once it opens, you can save it to any storage device. Just use your mouse to move towards bottom of first page of document. This will bring up selections to save, print, etc.

Note: The link above is a PDF file format webpage. You computer software should be able to open the file. If you get an error and the webpage will not open the document, then you have to get a software program that allows you to open a PDF format document. I hope this helps, Chris.

Edit: Chris:

The apex manual at the link above is a 107 page document. If you have a slower speed Internet provider, it may take a few minutes to download the file.

Found another link for another manual: [IMG]http://www.neptunesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Comprehensive-Reference-Manual.pdf">http://www.neptunesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Comprehensive-Reference-Manual.pdf</a> . This will most likely be for the newer models.

Do you have it connected? Are you just having trouble with the commands? Or what are you having trouble with?

Lol I can't get it connected to the network. Not computer savy at all. So all the commands are alien talk.

I have the PDF file and tried to follow it but I can't get connected to the net at all

Chris:

Did you see this info: http://www.neptunesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Quick-start-network-guide.pdf">http://www.neptunesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Quick-start-network-guide.pdf</a> . There are two links in this document. One if for Mac Computers and the other one is for Windows Computers. You can download the software at the links.

Both files are compressed (zip file formats); so you will need some type of software program to unzip [open] the files. You probably can get help from someone whom is computer savy. I'm not very knowledgeable, but I know enough to recognize different formats like zip, pdf. doc., etc. This is probably confusing you, so I'll stop the computer talking now.

P.S. Look at this in weblink above:

<p style="text-align:left">

<span style="font-size: 13px">5. Locate and open the appropriate "Apex Browse Utility" for you computers operating system.
a. For Mac users this will be located in the "Mac" folder
b. If you do not have a CD drive on your computer, then the Apex Browse utility can be downloaded here:
i. For mac: [IMG]http://www.neptunesys.com/ApexBrowse_mac.zip">www.neptunesys.com/ApexBrowse_mac.zip</a>
ii. For PC: [IMG]http://www.neptunesys.com/ApexBrowse_pc.zip">www.neptunesys.com/ApexBrowse_pc.zip</a>

No I understand all that.

Ill start over and post where I stop.

I was drinking alot last night so that did not help

Edit: When I try to access the apex site it won't open.

Did you find your IP address to allow communication?
Type "what's my IP address" on your computer to find it and enter to locate.
Do you have iPhone or iPad?
It's easy to control with iPad after you connect IP,etc. load the Apex App. That also gives you the users forum with helpful "Control Freaks" that answer your questions quickly?

Edit: Are you using an Ethernet cord to your Router for connection? How are you trying to connect?

Yes if you have an iPhone or IPad would be the easiest. Just download the app and plug apex straight into the router.

Chris:

What is the last three letters once you open the link? Is it [.zip] or [.pdf]. I'm guessing it's [zip]. In that case, you need a software program that allows you to unzip [open/view] the information or program that your computer doesn't understand.

An example, someone approaches you speaking Japanese and you never have spoken Japanese. You will not understand what that person is speaking. If you had an interpreter with you, then the interpreter could put the Japanese words into English for you to understand what the original person was saying to you.

Your computer is currently without an interpreter to translate the information at the apex site. Once you get the interpreter installed, you be able to utilize the information that you currently need.

I hope I didn't confuse you.
