Thoughts on AI Hydra.

Im ordering one of my lights in a few days.After very much thought and research,I came down to using 3 AI hydra fixtures.There going over my 180,6 ft tank.Was going to place a 4ft ATI 4 bulb sunpower fixture in the center in the back of tank.Then place 3 hydra"s along the front.Ive got to buy one at a time.I thought about going with Reef breeders,But for some reason i cant bring myself to do it.Can anyone see why i shouldnt go this route.And if anyone has these laying around the house and needs to unload them.LOL

I've had a hydra since the summer and really enjoy it. the controller is pretty sweet too.

I don't like reefbreeders because of the bridgelux LEDs. The hydras have Cree along with some other top of the line names. I have 2 hydras on my 65 at the shop and the growth is ridiculous to say the least. Even my acros are taking off and the tank is only 3 months old. The only downsides I noticed were rainbow effects (spotting of individual color from light such as red), and overall intensity. It is obviously strong enough to keep any coral, it just isn't as intense as some other lights. Hope this helps

Thanks, and yes it dose help.I need all this info to keep me from buying the cheaper stuff with less quality.

Bridgelux user here, no complaints. CREE is a more efficient bulb, but with the amount of LED's in alot of the fixtures now, it almost seems like overkill.

I have noticed that you can see the red/green lines especially at the edge of a shadow or spotlighted in certain places- however the owner of the tank that I know who has them does not mind and likes to keep the red and green cranked up. I do think that there is something appealing about the programmability.
