I'm currently running my sump without sock filters (its been 2.5 weeks). I have some detritus building up in the bottom of my sump now where my skimmer sits so I bought myself a power head today to help stir up the detritus so it will settle into the fuge where I have a 6" sandbed. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this idea?

FYI-This is a 110 gallon FOWLR tank.

I was wondering if it was beneficial for the detritus to eventually land on the sand. I did siphon out the detritus when I had a drip tray.

Agree w/ Stacy... you don't want any more detritus in your system than you have to. If it accumulates in an area you can get to, siphon it out.

siphon then add the powerhead so it doesn't accumulate.

I understand the removal of the detritus from the bottom of the sump because I use to do that all the time, but I want know if I should let it float and settle onto the deep sand bed in my refuge where the pods can eat it up? =)
