My 210 has finished cycling and now I'm trying to figure out what's going in. I saw a video online of some anthias schooling in the ocean and was amazed. I bought 6 Bartlett anthias years ago and only 1 survived QT. After loosing 5 that quick, I'm a little nervous about having a tank full. Has anyone had success with several anthias and is there a golden number I need to stay with? Ex: 2 males per female?

I've never had anthias but I believe people do 1:5 male to females. I doubt you'll get that schooling effect in a home aquarium, even in the Georgia Aquarium they don't really school.

Its a great idea and one I want to do in my tank. But remember.

They dont school, they just hang out in groups in the wild while staying close to the corals. They will not stay grouped in a tank.

Ratio of male to female depends on the species. Lyretails are fine at 2:1, squares 2:1, bartletts I would not do less than 3:1 as the males are very aggressive. Not sure on others but in general unless you have 8 or more I would not do a second male.

Just remember anthias can be very aggressive toward other anthias.

lots of feeding for anthias
lots of feeding = lots of poop
lots of poop = lots of NO3
lots of NO3 = lots of NO3 removal (equipment / water changes)

just my initial thoughts
