A miniature sun + t5s

Chaep at half the price. LOL Plasma is the future in High Intensity Lighting. It won't be too many years and every warehouse and factory in the US will be lit with plasma in my opinion.

Edit: Is that video you posted a reef that is lit by the plasma fixture?

Ooo, Gotchya!

And yes, that video has two of the 24" units over it.

A while, and Ive been looking ever since you first mentioned it. This is the first plasma fixture I found that I REALLY like

At full intensity, the plasma is a 6500k. When you dim the plasma, you get a higher kelvin rating(14k-17k)

126 reef;777167 wrote: There is the kicker. Depending on what intensity you can get to and still maintaing a nice color spectrum. Although I do like the idea of having a full range of spectup for your corals. As in ramping up to 100% for an hour or two inthe middle if the day when you are at work anyway then by the time you get home you have it back to the 14k to 17k range spectrum. Also not sure how much the t5 would make a difference in color as well

True, there is a catch... but my guess is that growth and color of your coral would be so impressive that the color of the light wont matter much.

I know she is a woman but is she really going to believe you when you tell her it was only $20.00????? hehehehehe

You are correct! I could end up in some deep doo-doo before the week is over. Got a spare room? Me and the new light may have to come stay for a few weeks

I am sure we could work out an arrangement. Tank maint for room and board. May just work.

Another member on the forum found a killer deal on RC where a guy was selling 2 units for 2/3 the cost of one unit. We couldn't pass up.

My Ai's are gone and I have a small halide/t5 on the tank for now... WOW. It's only a 150 hqi, but already shows more colors on sps than I had ever seen with LEDs. I can't wait to see what the 400w radium looks like

I think at $3k per fixture my sub $200 LED array still has some service lifetime left to it. ;-)

That said, this still looks cool.

Rich I couldn't agree more, I've been watching the R&D of plasma lighting for a number of years now and am actually surprised there isn't a functioning mass produced plasma fixture for at least pole lighting out already.
This little light would reduce a city's electric bills by over 70% to light up their streets and highways. But that maybe the exact reason we aren't seeing this out in the market place.

That, and the fixture manufacturers want to recoup all the R & D expenses put forth on LED. Once they have that market saturated they will move forward with plasma. I could be wrong but.....

I bet leds will hold their popularity for another few years before something better comes out.

That is why I said "It wont be too many more years" instead of "Next Year". LOL
