We I need to catch a fish in my tank (Royal Dotback) It's a tricky little guy especially with 50lbs of live rock and coral and such in a 29 gal Biocube. I was wondering if anybody had and tips or tricks they have used with sucess with catching fish with out tearing up the tank???

Thanks in advance.

FYI here's the tank.

take a 20oz coke bottle, cut the top off, invert it and load the inside with mysis or whatever the fish's favorite food is. You may need to not feed for a day or so to get him hungry enough to take it.

5g bucket. Remove some rock from one side of the tank so you can corner him. Do so and do a quick water change to 1) suck up the stirred up goodies and 2) you're gonna do one anyway sometime. Get a wide mouthed net and get him out into the cleared spot.

Fish traps and patience are the way to go like the guys above said. They reduce so much personal and reef stress compared to messing with rocks and such. Especially in a small tank where structural changes are so magnified.

I did this and had the fish in under 15 mins. Was great, thanks for the tip. Caught abunch of hermits and a emerald crab to LOL . Great little tip.

Now there's just the matter of my $30 consultation fee (or you could join the ARC).
