I am in the process of upgrading to a 120 and am looking for creative ideas for the placement of my top off water in the stand. I know that I won't have a tremendous amount of room to work with, limiting my top off reservoir to maybe 1 - 5 gallons max... likely on the 1-2 side... My stand is 48"L x 24"W x 36" tall.. not sure of the exact sump measurements but I believe it is probably about 38" long 22"W and maybe 20" tall..

If anyone has their top off water in their stand, sharing space with the sump, reactors, etc, please post some pics so i can check out your install.

greatly appreciated.

I am looking to do the same thing as you but havent settled on which container to use yet.
a> has a lot of different options to choose from. If you only have 1-2 gallons of top off water you may have to fill it up every day.

IMOP a smaller reservoir is a good thing for an ATO, that way if something goes haywire (a leak) the impact to salinity is slower.

I found a small (~1/2 gal) hard plastic container at the container store (see below, left side of image). It's just big enough for my top-off pump and a float valve connected to my RO unit. Its small enough that I have it mounted to the wall of my stand.

that is a great size with excellent dimensions.... its a little bit pricey, but you can't argue with what fits your space... got a pic to post?? did you build a shelf in the stand above the sump for it??

It's actually a bit cheaper at USPlastics...$38. I'm in the process of building mine now. Just some drawer slides and welded pvc shelf instead of wood.

please post pics when you are done.. I'm not the handiest and would need to see pics to understand what it is you are exactly doing... do you have the link for the product on US Plastics?? fitting 5gallons into my stand would be clutch..

Kent has a 5g topoff bottle with about the same dimensions. One of the sponsor stores up there can order it or may have it on the shelf

this 2.5 gallon container also looks pretty good if space is even more limited in the stand.. it's 10x10x10 plus its only $7...

now comes the challenge of building a shelf in the stand... not quite sure how to do it since the stand has no back and the front has doors.. so not too many places to drill to attach support...

use a couple of air hooks

Edit: can you not put shelf or L brackets on the side over the tank

they are like sky hooks but dont attach as far up in the air

Edit: sorry, I had too...

I found a 3 gallon square plastic bottle at a homebrew supply place. I forget where though and I can't find it online. ugh.

I wound up getting a smaller sump and now I have more than enough room to put a standard 5 gallon jug in the stand.. Works beautifully.
