This is the problem with all these goofy names - I've told @chuck I've never known a HG to have purple in it however I've found a couple of websites listing this as a master torch (not a master hg) - its basically a nyk with white tips. But it doesn't look like yours has a green mouth - so you're really looking at it being just a jester torch...
I would honestly just call it an indo gold

true that i told cardena last week that the jester he posted was not a jester too many names now

The important thing to me is how they look. Torches are my second favorite coral after zoas/palys. I just buy the ones that I think are pretty. Unfortunately the pretty ones are usually the expensive ones!

isn't that true for most things in life? torches are good but nowadays they have gotten as crazy as sps.

Ive always been told hg family has blue or purple tips andy shades of blue or purple. But now they calling holygrails geen ble purple tips. Its crazy so i guess all us torch guys tweek our lights get a different color and name it whatever we want

I’ve understood hgs to have only green & yellow tentacles with varying tips. Blue tips are usually more pricey than green tips. Brighter specimens are always more expensive.

Anything with purple in the tentacles was an indo gold. Ultras have brighter gold but lighting and nutrients play a big part in how bright the gold gets.

Todd’s torch has the brightest green I’ve seen. 24ks have the brightest gold/orange. Coral Cruz is supposed to be the brightest HG but I’ve never seen one in person.

But yes - these are all ripped out of the ocean and not lab created so there are no patents or copyrights…just vendors trying to be cute with the naming.

It’s gotten to the point where the good old DS is hard to identify these days.

I used to think that too. But everyone is changing the game on us. When you google hg it said online that most holygrails are purple or blue tips but honestly these venders are making things more complex these days. Its crazy. Before long all torches are going to be HG
