Trading/Selling

It's just a forum etiquette thing... no reason to scream in a quiet room :)

BTW, I like your new signature, Tony ;-)

lol... yeah, its not doing me much good. No one is signing up with my referral!!! :boo:

saltynoob that is exactly my feeling. I feel like this club/forum exists soley for the purpose of a classifieds section. Obviously rules cant be made against flipping items or sketchy business practices. But i dont feel that its right that we are not allowed to speak out if we believe a deal was shady. It is a buyers right to stay informed of the product's history. Personally if i were to sell something in this club to another member, and if i were to give them a deal, id do it just because they are a club member and i would know the item i was selling was going to be appreciated and taken care of. maybe a business transaction is just a transaction with no feeling or emotion involved. I hope thats not true in this club. I joined this club for the fellowship and community, not to make a quick buck off someone else's generosity.

The forums are here to be used for however you all want to use them. It's not up to the BoD to delegate what is being discussed. There are over 1500 users here, speak up! :)

The credibility of the seller is absolutely unknown if they're new and no one ever met them before. I know many cases fellow members/my friends went over to buy some dry goods and end up catching cracks and leaks or broken parts where it is not described in the ad. If buyer was to come back and post what he saw on the forum about the item then I think the next person who is interested would appreciate this information because it just saved him/her some money and time.

Just my $40 worth of opinion.

This is a forum dedicated to help it's members. I bought my share of nonworking equiptment from people because no one told me better, I think we should save other noobs from making the same mistake. If I see a crappy product that does not work I will PM the prospective buyer and tell them some info and direct them to credible sites explaining why it does not work. Like in the case of a aquamedic denitricator.

Same thing about livestock. I've drove 65 miles to someones house who said he have ...... colored coral that is ............. inches and end up being totally false. Reef1973 will confirm this also. I ended up buying some of his stuff because I didn't wanted to be rude, despite already having 2934839 of them in my tank thats the same color. Reef1973 ended up doing the same thing, buying a frag to not be rude. So if I would have posted a comment about the coral, I know Rit would have saved some time, money and gas.

If you was to hijack the post and say something untrue or just tell them to buy it from you instead, then it would be a bad thing. The descrete way is to PM the buyer and give him/her some clue about the product and probably a link or two to show them the actual store price, if the goods are being sold a bit higher than TMV. If the thing is way overpriced then I would just say nothing and post a link. If the product was misleading or just plain broken then please post it on that thread.

^^ agreed!

As far as the purpose of the club, i am SURE there is some sort of club mission statement....ill go look for it.
