Came in from church today to find the foot of my neme stuck to my Aqueon acp500 circulater .
Dead as a door nail , tank littered with pieces of it everywhere.
All I could do it clean up the mess , iv never herd of this happening , iv never even seen my guy get close to it.
Is this common.
Will it hurt my cuc or other creatures , I did a w/c 30% and siphoned what I could out but the blade made it hamburger.
I added a little prime to the system in anticipation of a spike in ammonia from so much muck in the tank , what else should I do ?

Aqueon 1 / neme 0. :( rip

You cleaned it up and did a WC....you should be OK. Maybe make some more water and do another change today. I've had nems cut up in my Vortechs, and the rest of the tank did not suffer. Sorry about your loss.

Thankyou , I'm rather upset about it myself, but I can't see how I could have avoided this short of putting netting or screen on the vents.
My cleaner shrimp were going nutz swimming about catching little pieces and my royal grama ate a piece , I was more afraid of the small piece stinging my coral or clown fish but all my inhabitants seem ok.

I think I will do another w/c either this evening or tomorrow am.
The clowns seem to be looking for there buddy as well.

I have had a nem get caught up in a power head before and I must have not gotten all of it out and about 2 months later I had a small nem in the tank alive and well. I guess some of the foot and mouth was still in tact and survived.

I considered that thought , someone from my other forum mentioned the same thing , but I was thinking it was just more in the tank to decompose.

+1. I've been there, my GBTA got chopped to bits, but a small bit of the foot survived and now I still have a very small version of my nem.

Like Arcoholic said, "You cleaned it up and did a WC....you should be OK."
