I just bought a fox face yesterday from my lfs. I was aware that they will eat zoas and softies. Well I wake up and some of my candycane heads were destroyed! And now it's picking at my favia. So I've decided to try taking it out and back to see if my lfs will mabye give me store credit for it. So does anyone have and good DIY traps that I can make for under 10$ or any strategies I can use to get it out?

Try and nab him during feeding time, if he eats food you put in.

Also, Mr.Saltwatertank has a good video he posted in one of his q&a videos on 01-18-14 that gives a lot of good advice.

. Well he's very skittish. I think I'll try using a large plastic bag with some food in it.

If you have anything other than MH lights, you could turn the lights off for a while (cover the tank if it's daytime), then turn them back on full power. The fish will be temporarily blinded and easy to catch if he's out in the open. Tried to catch a yellow tang a while back, and spent hours using other methods. Read about this and it worked the first time. The only time it might not work is if the fish has a hiding place deep in the rockwork when it gets dark. Even then you can coax him out into the open by tapping him from behind, if you can reach. Since he's temporarily blind, he won't know what's going on, just that he should move away from whatever's hitting his tail. Good luck!

Never thought about blinding a fish..... But I'll do anything to save my coral. And I will be very careful about putting my hands in the tank and cathing it. Has anyon ever been pricked and inventamated by one of these fish?

Good luck. I tried to catch mine awhile back. I even made the 2 liter coke bottle trap. It trapped everything except the fox. Every time it even thought I was up to something it would go back in the rocks and wait till I got board with it.
