Trident 6 month reagent supply

I haven't looked into it much since it 1st came out last year. I know there needs to be 4 Alk and 2 each of the Cal & Mag done in the correct succession. What I wasn't sure of is if you could skip days. Even every other day would extend the reagents be a good bit.

That would be nice. There is an option to switch to manual testing.

The uncertain nature of the equipment/reagent and this video that I saw the other day are the reasons why I still couldn’t pull the trigger.

@lshin037 this is the video I was telling you about yesterday

Ive had mine a couple months now, and I enjoy it. I agree it does feel flimsy and you do have to be gentle. For me it was worth the money because I work a lot and tend to lean toward automation to help me out. It has been consistent even to my readings when I use my red sea kit. At the end of the day is a luxury item that you have to decide if you want. It's definitely not a must have item, but nice to have. I don't know if I would allow it to do my dosing once I get to that point, but some people have even started doing that.

Having had to take the thing apart, Im thinking it was designed that way. Besides the 4 feet on the bottom which are thumbscrews, its all put together with tabs so the plastic has to be somewhat flimsy in order to release the tabs. Neptune hasn't released the maintenance kits yet but Im sure one of the steps is to clean the cuvette. Even the cuvette assembly is held on there with tabs. The guy on that video really only had 1 major complaint...the flimsiness of the unit for the price. Its probably the most expensive tester if you don't have an apex but if you have an apex, it'll be the least expensive option. Of all the testers out there, the only other option I would have considered besides the trident was the mindstream. I really wanted to see how it performed.

for me, cost is not the problem here.
its the build quality (which is plastic), and the constant “out of stock” even for the 2 months supply that have me worried. I’m pretty busy myself so I don’t want to keep an eye so to speak on when the reagent comes back in stock

And what’s up with people on BRS website saying that 6months supplies don’t last 6 months?
My initial two month supply lasted one month and three weeks! Fortunately I had another two months supply on hand.

I ran test the recommended minimum, 4 daily. Of course the Neptune rep said that I probably received reagent from their first run batch which "may" have been a bit short. The other thing that bothers me is this...When I got the notice the the reagent in bottle c was low, there was still at least an ounce of fluid in the bottle. Neptune is very specific about telling us not to pour the remaining reagent into the new bottle because of contamination. Now that is flat out wasteful! And it insures more profit for them!

I run the same test schedule, I hooked mine up on 12-24 so not quite 2 months. Im sorry but if your aware of it, maybe you should be sending me out another 2 month supply! I totally agree with the waste, because I noticed the same thing while changing reagent a. That is a bit annoying, because that is total waste. You are correct about the profit for them my friend.
