I just bought a green Trumpet coral today. A couple hours after I placed it in the tank, I noticed that the color seemed to be flaking right off of the heads. I have no idea whats going on!!!! Please help!

at the store they were under LED's now they are under T5's

Do you know what your water parms are? Could be due to stress. Did you acclimate the coral to your water or just toss it in?

They tend to like lower light so, I'm not sure where in the take you've placed them. The color isn't flaking off, but rather the algae inside the coral is clustering it seems. Not sure why. I do notice that there is an almost dead polyp so they may have been stressed for a bit. You have healthy looking tissue though, and the polyp itself doesn't seem to be acting too stressed. I'd let it go, maybe move it lower in the tank for awhile (i keep all mine in the bottom 1/4 of my tank under t5s. Someone else probably has more experience here than me, but I wouldn't get too worried at this point.

Is that hammer in the background trying to sting it? Doesn't have to touch it to sting it. If the flow is moving from the hammer to the candy, it can put a hurt on it.

+1 Jenn, corals can release all kinds of chemicals to clear out their surroundings, reproduction, and for many other reasons. Just like when leathers release terpenes during shedding and/or when they want to nuke acro colonies growing above/near them. Currents may carry these chemicals x-amount of distances before biological breakdown.

+1 Kilralpine, corals can be very particular to tank placement dispite the usual known preferences.
