I read on here once that to get clowns to host the nem, they should be put in a small container along with the nem. How long does it take? Both of my snowflake percs have been in there with a rose bubble tip for 2 weeks.

Probably if they haven't done it by now I would say they are probably not going to. There really isn't any sure way to get a clown to host in a nem. Mine have been in with two rbta's for going on two years and would still rather sleep in the sand. I know it is aggravating...

I'd just let them go. They may or may not ever host the nem, but more than likely they will eventually find it. If you have had the clowns in there for awhile they are going to have to give up their current hosted spot for the new one. Think about how much it would take for you to find a new home in the same neighborhood!

I've seen success with putting them in a basket...LFS owners do it too. Though, there is no guarantee if they take in the basket that they will stay with it once in the tank. Worth a shot though.

I thought you had changed your mind, Barry.

Funny thing is, the clowns swim at the edge of the top of the tank at night as if they're homeless. They've been doing that since I got them.

It will happen when you least expect it. Mine ignored the RBTA for months. Then one day they they decided it was time to move in.

My pair of clowns took almost 9 months to start hosting my RBTA. Now they won't leave! It's all about patience.

Mine prefers my Hammer. I've even moved the hammer and the clown follows it.

I'm also convinced he has been stung twice by the hammer leaving him with open mouth but he still calls it home. Has recovered both times after a week or so.
