haha the tanks are sweet but I feel like these guys have no idea what they are talking about... why is a custom aquarium guy asking questions as basic as "this snowflake eel wont eat my fish right?"

Edit: why would you make your quarantine tanks 9 feet tall... good luck cleaning them

I don't understand how this owner is rich... his decision making skills are sub par at best

Now I know what a qt is. But I thought a sump can also be used as a qt I'm confuse.

Well in my experience, there are 2 types of quarantine tanks.. the kind that are plumbed in (which is really just an observation tank) and then a separately plumbed system.

Like the guy in the show said, you quarantine fish to protect your main tank. If you buy a fish that has some deadly disease that isn't readily visible, you won't kill everything in your main reef tank. They plumbed in the QT tanks, so if one of those fish is sick, it could kill everything... it's not a QT, its basically 4 more fish tanks that are in the kitchen and hard to look at haha

So I'm going to need another tank for a qt then. I can only imagine infecting your whole system because of one freaking sick fish.

So that's like 3 tanks DT, sump, and qt.

By the way the big guy reminds of the guy from "The King of Queens" love that show too especially the chick

I also noticed when they went fish shopping, they grab some of them bare hand. Isn't that a bad idea as well?

I don't see this one catching on though. Better enjoy it while you can.

i should certainly think so.. obviously they didnt hire a very experienced person to help set up their "tank."

At least we are fortunate we have each other. I feel bad for those who are going to watch that show and start on a bad route. But overall I like the show, at least I learn something and when in doubt, I ask my fellow reefers here.

I also didnt care for how they were inspecting the fish. Seriously, why hold the fish out of water in your hand to look at it. Not only does that stress the hell out of the fish but also removes the slime coat. That's what specimen containers are for!!! And especially a cow fish, handleing like that could kill that fish. There is a reason your not to feed that fish any food that floats!!!

I'll still watch the show, maybe to dream or get a few ideas. And mostly just to yell at the tv.

I hear ya man, these guys are idiots, I posted a while back when this was brought up. I really didn't like the previews of them grabbing fish with their hands. Ignorance and look at them making a boat load of money and they really don't know much about the livestock. Sure they can build a tank but why not educate yourself on how to care for what your keeping in the special tanks.

The fish and stuff really isn't what the show is about.

It the production in a unreasonable time frame and the drama it creates. Just like the rest of the shows out there..

For instance Sons of Guns, it was great, low key, inovative builds and good comradery. And now it has turned into drama and stupid builds IMHO.

yeah your 100 percent right, I'm upset because its live beings you know. Sure you can mess up and throw some metal away no problem but screwing up and killing something that is alive out of ignorance is unacceptable. :yuk:

I'm with smallblock, animals are defenseless. No matter what animal it is, we shouldn't abuse of it and give it the respect they deserve for who they are.

Sons of Guns was a perfect example.. That show was awesome until they added the unreasonable time frames (is this the latest artificial drama trick?)

We are building a display gun for the chopper guys, obviously they can't have it because you need licenses for a full auto machine gun, but what the hell, lets just say that we need it done in 48 hours, because thats the only time these world famous, work for themselves because they are so rich, guys came come.
