tunze power head question

Hello again. Im looking into getting 2 tunze 6045 ph. With or without a controller. Wanted to get the clubs op on these. And if its worth it to get a controller. Have u ran the tunze pumps? Are 2 #6045 enough flow for a 120 gallon with maybe 25% sps. Thanks. I do like the mp40 but dont have that $$.

The Tunze 6045 is on/off only. It doesn't ramp up/down as most people think when they say controllable. IIRC, you are only supposed to turn them on/off a few times a day. What type of controller do you have. I would look at the Tunze 6095. You can vary their flow via and Apex of Tunze controller.

I've got a Tunze 6095 connected to an Apex for my 65g. It's overkill for my tank, but I wanted to be able to reuse it if/when I upgraded. I didn't do any tuning, but the recommended pulse settings were enough to get a nice little wave going in my tank. I think it performs really well, and I'm using the smallest jumper (12v) to dial back the flow. I have lots of upside if I need more flow, and I like the way you can aim it where you need it.

I used 2 6055s (variable speed) and a nano wavebox on my 90gal and it absolutely rocked flow within the display..

I ran them with my Apex (sold)
but I still have the 6055s and nano wavebox for sale..

I haven't really pushed the limit. To create a wave, you run it at 30% for a fraction of a second, then 100% for a fraction of a second. The apex lets you do the pulse. So I'm not even running it 100% on average.

I like the wider flow, and it certainly moves the water in my tank, but only had an Evo 750 to compare it with. I like to fiddle with the direction sometimes, and it's easy to change it from blowing down toward the front glass to creating a gyre flow by just changing the aim.
