So I just walked in my brothers room to check his tanks as I do every night,I saw small white dots and I looked closer and there was about 50 snails about the size of the tip of a pen. He hasn't had any new live rock added or coral in the past month and I know they haven't been in there long as I am very observant of the hitchhikers in our tanks. Any ideas? Can't post pics from my phone I'll get him to put some up tomorrow.

I have thousands, literally. I'm not sure what kind of snails they are, but they never seem to grow much larger that what you see.

I asked Matt at Creation Reef about it and he said that if they're breeding in those kinds of numbers, something must be going right.

That said, they're stripping my corraline algae from purple to white. I added a line spot flasher wrasse, hoping he might polish off a few, not wipe out all of them, but it looks as if another wrasse may be in my near future for further population control.

I've seen them as well not as much recently I guess because my Malenurus Wrasse could be eating them. But they only seemed to come out at night.

I thought the same thing a few months back and I know someone gave me a name but I forget it. They do stay very small and don't seem to have any negative impacts. There is another very small snail that eats clams though, so just keep an eye on any clams you have and do a little more investigation if this applies to you.
