Turning A 150 Sunpod In To A 250 Sunpod?

i have a sunpod 150 hqi that im going to order a new bulb for soon.i was thinking of making it a 250 hqi. is the ballast the only thing i need to change ?is the bulb the same size? anyone know where to order the right ballast .or is it easyer to order a new sunpod?

You need to replace the ballast, sockets, and fan. I was looking to do this as well when it comes time for a new bulb. I had to open up the unit to dry after it fell into the tank. It should be easy to do. I think finding a ballast to fit in the space provided might be a challange. I was thinking of running an external ballast, but that would require a different wiring scheme. It would eliminate the need for a new fan though.

Besides the ballast, you will also need to change out the bulb sockets. The 250w bulb is longer and has different "fittings" at the ends.

ive seen used ones sell for 150-180 .250 sunpod is only 309.00 for 100-125 dollar difference ill probally just order one.
