My Anemone (Rainbow) looks beautiful in color and has nice bubble tips, seems very happy but keeps on twisting its self up horribly. The foot has at least 5 twists in it again.

On Friday it was like this, Saturday it was twisted maybe 10 times and really concerned me. So I turned off the power heads and pumps then using my hand I moved the water around it until it was completely untwisted. It took over an hour but I thought it would stress it out less than me grabbing it to untwist it.

Now its twisted up again! I don't have an hour, it worries me.

Any suggestions?

If it is really unhappy, it'll move itself. I'd wait and see if it sorts itself out.

I just moved m6 tank...and mibe is doing the same thing....I coukd tell he wantex to move and was unhappy by the research I have done so I moved him in the tank (entire rock).

he started to move but then realized the fliw was better and light intensity was less and its starting to settle in. My other anemone has opened up finally so I am a happy camper.

did you just add it to the tank?

Add a new pump /wavemaker etc? Or have one go out recently?? Add more light or change lighting cycles???

If you added a light try raising it.

If the flow is to low or high they will get testy...shrink curl twist and eventually move if those symptoms are not water quality related.
He will find his happy spot and it might take awhile if something has changed in the tank.
goodluck!!!

Over a month ago everything in my tank got a buz when the tank was over dosed with vodka. It's been hung over, moving around now and then every since. My set up has been the same but my MP10's mode changes. This is nothing new but I don't think it's found just the right spot yet.

I untwisted it last night and also moved the entire rock which was a MAJOR pain. It looks happy this morning.
Thanks

I was wondering how the drunken anemone ended up...

Got any pics of the twisted foot? Mine's never done that...

Mine was curling around the edges if it came out and then stayed hold up the rest of the time.

Didnt know they curl at the foot...

It not just a curl, it was twisted 3 Times once (4 times another) completely around! I should have took pic's don't know why I didn't! I searched on it and found info, it looked just like mine and had a BAD out come. It's way behind a rock now and I can't tell if its twisted or not. It's probably my favorite thing in my tank but has caused me the most grief worring about it and loosing the mother.
The mom got caught in my mp10 the day after I moved (couldn't find the foam covers). It was huge and was almost a 24 hour job to get the tank cleaned back up. It killed me when it all died. Now this guy moving every day on my other corals etc... I'm not home enough to watch it and its killed a few. The mom never moved, well only once!
URG!

Last weekend when it started the twisting my Mag was way high everything else was ok, ill check again ASAP.

I've been treating with Kent Tech M but my tank is clean and have been backing off since it was off the chart (Seachem which if I remember right is 1500) and had to recalc ending up with it being over 1800. Does anyone know if Mag at 1800 hurts anemones or bothers anything in the tank?

Im def no pro here but if I wanted to sound like a know it all I would google the answer and respond.

I would assume any organism that is not getting what it needs ..it will be impacted in some way.

ie- to ppl saying ohh nuclear waste??? no biggie!!! its the ocean, its huge and has no ill effect....

jeez are these ppl insane!!!!!!????

Id google it!

How often do you check you water?

I only check water when there appears to be a problem, no regular schudle. I've only been checking weekly the last few months because I'm increasing Mag 100 ppm a day. I check mag, ca, alk often now.

I really think it doesn't like my high flow. It's back behind a big rock AGAIN where the flow is lower. I might have a phobia about flow, I want to visibly see the waste go up and out of my overflow box.... Is this normally how all tanks should work? I've got this down pretty good and my corals are placed to where they are happy unless they are knocked off which happens a lot! Fish are active and have their areas to chill, but this anemone never settles down low enough to get away from the high flow!
Idk but its frustrating.

I have googled it without much luck. Ive read the high mag is a relaxant to all animals so I keep a close eye on my crabs and snails which are first to take the hit. Other than that I've found nothing negative.
