Ok so I just found out I am going to take a trip next week to Saint Martin. (Lucky Me) I can not go without doing a bit of diving. My question is, I can not afford an REAL underwater camera, anyone tried any of the disposible underwater cameras? Any of them worth a crap?!?

none of them are any good and most are only rated to 30ft max

alot of cameras have optional underwater housing to them. i dont know much more info than that, and im sure they are fairly expensive, but worth looking into?

Hey Brandon Nancy has Canon A70 with a waterproof case that is good to 40m or 130ft you can borrow. Nothing fancy, but it will take some great shots.

I wouldn't have the nads to put my Canon Digital Rebel in a zip lock bag and get in the shower let alone dive with it. lol

Some areas (Like down here in the Keys) You can find disposable underwater DIGITAL cameras, the CVS on Islamorada sells'm. for like $20
So I'm sure you can find'm on line. And with a decent photo editing program line adobe photo shop you can come home with some very acceptable photos.

you could look into renting a underwater camera, just make sure you get trained on how to use it.

without some light or a strobe though, you are going to get just blue pictures with backscatter..trust me....unless you are inched away...then they will be out of focus. disposables ar ecrap...also you only have at most 36 shots right? I will shoot 36 in the first 2 minutes of a dive....

get a housing for you digital camera...I have had my Canon SD600 down to 120 feet.

housings work...

wow cool, the camera housing for my cannon sd630 is like 170, thats actually not too bad at all. so what kind of flash equipment are we talking washowi? price?

I went in april, turned my old point and shoot into an underwater camera with the purchase of a housing for it off of ebay for like $80. Worked great..
See the pictures in this post.

Delaney.

Thanks to one wonderful member who shall remain nameless for the current moment, I think I will have a nicer underwater camera to shoot some killer pics with. Now to try to pack as much diving and snorkel as I can in one week. I hope I can return with some good pics to share. Delaney, Thanks for sharing yours!
