Unhappy Bubbletip?

The one I am asking about has only been in my tank for a week. I had a rose bubble tip in my older (75 gallon) tank and it was not doing well at all. The lighting was not strong enough (216 watt T5s) and the anemone grew small and always had stringy tentacles. When I moved the rose anemone into the newer 90 gallon with the increased lighting, it developed bulb tips. :) From everything I have been reading, long stringy legs indicate a bubble tip is either hungry or is not getting enough light. The bulb tips are a positive sign.

To make my lighting even more uncertain; I have read 4 sites posts this evening (the sites only sell lighting of various types) that all indicate CF bulbs concentrate more intense light than do straight bulb types (i.e. T5). UGH....there is SO much controversy in salt water! I suppose I'll just have to keep an eye on my nems.

I'm in the process of downgrading from 180 to 30. I'm only keeping my Maroon clowns and my Nem. I'm now worried if it will be ok going from MH to CF. I'm keen to learn if yours settles in to one place.

I will keep you up to date. My Rose bubbletip is now hiding, after I tried to move it closer to the lighting. My green one (the one I've been asking about) has been in the same place (on the glass & under a rock ledge) for almost 24 hours....

Don't move them unless absolutely necessary (near power head or heater) You always run the risk of injuring them...they will move to where they feel comfortable and are getting adequate light/food.

Delpni, please be sure to feed your anemone 2-3 times a week with pieces of krill or mysid shrimp that are smaller than its mouth. Anemones still need to consume protein for growth and to thrive.

They do not live well by just giving them light.

Or where u tell them they will go

Tagging along!!

I have a rose tip nem too and it's been staying in one spot and hiding for the past month and now it just moved out to the front of the rock that it was hiding in. I have the same problem with it having long stringy tips instead of bubbling up. I've never feed mines before and would like to know how you guys do it. I got a new pack of silversides in my freezer but never opened it up. Do I just cut up a piece and put it by the nems mouth and hope it hangs onto it?

Thanks in advance guys.

I feed my krill & mysid shrimp at least twice per week. :D
