So I finnaly convinced the misses to let me get a bigger tank :yay: and picked up a 34G Starphire Solana last night w/ 150W Halide and dual actinic lights.

My questions is, what's the safest way to move eveything from my current 15G Nano over to the new tank. Is this a month long process to cycle or can I use all the water/substrate from my current tank and mix it with new saltwater/substrate in the new tank.

If i had my way i'd throw it all in the new tank right away, but i don't want my excitment to get the better of me.

Go with new sand as i believe any time you have the chance to add new substrate i would.....

Congrats Dil! From what I've heard, you can transfer everything over, as long as you use all of the water, live rock, and sand from the old system. You may have a small cycle, but there are additives you can use to help (someone else will have to chime in with the name). Also, doing more frequent water changes during the first couple weeks should help a lot. Many people have upgraded with no cycles at all.

When I upgraded I used new sand, the rock from the previous tank and newly mixed salt water. I did it the same day.

I hope that helps.

Yep. Agree with the new sand. Use your old live rock which should haven't much die off if any I wouldn't think. You will obviously need to add more for a tank that size.

And congrats!
