upgraded tank today

Looks good. It's hard to tell from the pics, but do you have the rock real close to the glass on either end? It could just be the way it is reflecting off the glass. If so, it will be hard to get whatever you use to clean the glass (mag float) in there.
I think i lost my purple firefish also. hes not out this morning like normal and i cant see behind the tank because of the paint or under the rocks because of the placementl...so down to a red firefish and 2 ocellaris clowns. any recs on active, non-aggressive fish that will be out and about(40 gallon with 20 sump)? the clowns will be with the nems, which are moved arou.d to the back at the moment, so we wont see them either.
the rocks were hunted down and then also stacked to make the archways. was trying to make swim throughs for the angel that died.

Sucks about the Angel. Did you use stability when you swapped tanks?

did you use new sand? and is that a sand sifting starfish I see?
I used new and old sand, about 50/50. the star needs to come out...I know he will starve. I need to rehome him.that was one of my "issues" i have to deal with. he was a newbie purchase.
rock isnt up against the glass, that was another issue from my old tank i didnt want in this one.
just checked water and thank goodness all is in workably decent order excep calcium is a little high, phosphate a little high, ammonia a little high. have a reactor that just set up yesterday with carbon and gfo.

might I ask what you upgraded from and to? Also what did you do with your corals and fish during the move? When you kept the old sand did you simply move it from one to another or did you clean it?
I upgraded from a 55 to a 90 rr about 2 weeks ago and didnt lose a thing. Everything is doing very good luckily, I am only a year into this hobby but did about a years worth of research before I started. Not to mention I have a good friend who has been in it for about 10 years. Might be able to provide some tips for the next move.

salinity is at 1.025 today, test kits were salifert and red sea. no other changes in levels i tested tonight ( didnt test for calcium, and a few others).
corals and fish were in multiple buckets with heaters and powerheads. some sand went straight from one tank to the next (as undisturbed sand from the top), some was new, as this was the last thing out of the old tank. water was old and new as it was a much bigger tank with the sump.
upgraded from 29 with no sump to 40 with 20 sump. hopefully no more moves for this tank. next build is a 75 from the beginning. no coral loss. in fact, everything looks much happier.

You will likely go through one or more mini cycles before you will be in the clear, just test often and do smaller water changes every few days until everything is acting back to the norm and you should be fine
