I recently bought a used Vortech MP40. I soaked it in vinegar overnight, and seemed to get everything cleaned off of it.

I have put it on my new tank, a 24 x 24 x 18 tank. I have noticed that when I try to adjust the speeds on it with the +/- knob, it seems to stay the same speed. Which also seems to be the weakest speed b/c I was told that a MP40 should be more than enough flow.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Or maybe have any advice on what I need to check to get it at full power?

i have two options, a light blue and an orange color. i was told the light blue was lagoon mode, so i have it on the orange.

Hmmm...... That sounds like you have it in slave mode and are toggling it between sync and anti-sync. I think you need to get the manual, if one didn't come with it, then go to Ecotech's Website and download it. After downloading look up how to clear the memory and restart the unit.

You should have more than two options, for sure. I've found the customer service with them to be quite good. You could send them an email and probably hear back from them lickity split.

Bud is correct. It is currently configured as a secondary slave. Reset that puppy and you should be good to go. Turn it down then follow step 1 on page 7 on the link below.

thanks, i will try this and let you know how it goes. but what do u mean by "secondary slave"?

super sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! it worked. thanks for the help guys. being a first time owner, i had no idea it could get so strong. i've been sitting here for the past week thinking, "hmmmmmmmmm, this MP40 isn't all it's cracked up to be".

now, which mode do yall like to keep it in? I'm thinking constant reef mode (green).

Slave is a setting in which more than one mp20/40w drivers are used on one tank give the user more options, i guess would be the term, for flow, etc. etc.

I keep my on Reef Crest or in Wave Mode, I have two tank both with Vortechs. Makes life so much easier sometimes lol
