Just looking to get some feedback from anybody who has used these lights. Unfortunately, I am on a budget, so I cannot afford to buy the newer ones. So i'm trying to make these work as best as possible. Looking for information such as which schedule you used? How high you sat them above the aquarium?Have anything else that might be helpful

Someone with experience using these can weigh in on specific settings for spectrum and suggested mounting height, usually based on your tanks dimensions.

FWIW, the PAR meter sensor is calibrated to give the quantum effective irradiance, regardless of the spectrum from a light. The truth is that the corals don’t care much as long as they get what they require. That may generate a heated argument, but I would suggest that you find a spectrum pleasing to your eyes. Then adjust the intensity to deliver the required PAR. After all, you are building this system to look 👀 at!

Besides that, someone with a PAR meter can come help adjust intensity settings to achieve optimal irradiance for the corals you want to cultivate in your system. I would strongly suggest that you do this before buying corals.

Am using g3 for sump and g6 for main. I don’t feel there is a difference for soft corals / worth the money difference. Also, considering leds, I don’t feel there are aging issues (brightness) ..
From a control perspective, I use the apex wxm for the g3 (non mobius) and prior models. I use the mxm for the g6. Within apex, I don’t see any functional differences or limitations for the programming.

You can replicate (albeit a bit tricky) the ramp up / ramp down functionality in the apex program vs using the mobius app (built in ecotech programs). Send me a dm if you would like the programming I use ..

Hope this helps..

if you’re on a budget. They are almost identical in spread and spectrum to g2s. Light bluer. But they are a far cry from G4s with the newer fish eye optics.

The biggest con is their spread is very linear. Meaning they will burn the crap out of your corals at higher intensity. Difinitwly get a par meter if you are trying to min max settings.

Otherwise, EVERY light past g3 will give same results if you dial it in

Sounds good. I appreciate the information..I do own a par meter so I can handle that part myself. Just going to use the old parallel lines starting at the bottom and going to the top about every 2 to 3 inches or so. Marking down the par at each line and writing them in a book.. of course that's once I get the lights mounted at the correct height and the desired look.. I'm familiar with a lot of that type of stuff but I'm just looking to hear from folks who have used them to get their opinion on real world use and what worked best for them. Also anything they found out unique about them while using them..
