using plastic rods

with all the talk about using plastic rods these last few days, im curious.
as i understand it folks use these for shelves and over hangs.
can somebody post some pics or links where i can see these in use?
i dont think ive ever seen this being done unless i didnt realize what i was looking at. got a 120 build i need to start thinking about.

So do you guys think that plastic rods is a better alternative than chopped up plumbing pipe? Is acrylic rod difficult to cut?
 
Much better. It's easy to cut with a hack saw. Also, it can be heated in the oven and formed. The fact that it's solide also means it won't harbour nutrients.
 
If you look at my tank pics before the reset, it was done using acrylic rod.
