Everytime I decided to run a UV Sterilizer, I get WAY fewer micro bubbles in my tank.

Common sense tells me the two have nothing to do with each other, but this has happened in many different set ups now.

I made this claim in a different thread years ago and was blasted alil for thinking the two were related but tonight, after two months of micro bubble issues in my new set up, I ran across a submersible UV that I'd forgotten about and decided to throw it in the tank.

For the first time in three months, no bubbles in my display.

Anyone else ever expreience this?

Anyone with a micro bubble problem care to give it a shot and report their findings?

Interesting.... Not sure if this could be a cause but running sea water through a UV light creates some Hydrogen Peroxide. Maybe the extra oxidizing power from the H2O2 eliminates the micro bubbles somehow...

Maybe it kills what ever forms the bubbles?I know you have to put soap or something in water to make bubbles?(IE-bacteria,phospates,etc...)

I thought maybe the flow path of the UV was just pulling some of the existing microbubbles out of the sump and allowing them to degass.

Dak, one of the best microbubble reducers is a felt filter sock. Do you use one?

System is sumpless, with the overflow you built for me, although my measurements were off, so I might have to do something a lil bigger, but can still use that overflow box for my son's tank this weekend.......

The flow has nothing to do with it..... But I can certainly tell you I have had no more micro bubbles since I plugged this thing in last night. There's definately something to this as I posted this same result the first time I ever used a UV.
