Vacation mishap

I got back yesterday after being gone 10 days. Everything I set up worked fine except, it appears, the timer for the lights stuck in the on position. I don't know for how long. Most things appear to be okay but there is a chalice and an encrusting monti that look awful. No polyps visible and they are pale but not completely bleached.
The question is what should I do? Go back to normal lighting? Go with shorter times and gradually increase it.? Or leave the lights out for a little while and let them recover?

Hate to hear that. All of our reef tanks are truly labors of love. I bought an Apex controller for this very kind of reason.

They're labor alright. It's not always love though.
It's funny that before I left I was eyeballing that timer with suspicion. I thought of putting the lights on an old-school mechanical dial timer. I used those for years and never had an issue. Ever.

LOL. I understand. I still use old time clocks to control water features at some of the properties I've worked at. The cheap plastic ones scare me.

Just go back to your normal lighting schedule. The chalice should come back...I would think the monti would be ok too.
