Sro 3000 int cone, great for me, CS is great, they will work out with you, I would love to try the new ones they made, with adjustable speed pump.
Vertex and and BK, ahh if I had the cash I would try, however I don't like the wedge valves.
My opinion on any skimmer pump is that they tend to fail due to lack of maintenance, most of the times.
I have been running a hydor performer 505 recirc skimmer for the last 6 months and love it. It has been completely set and forget. Water levels don't really matter to it. It pulls out tons of gunk and also fits inside a eshopps rs100 sump. Acrylic/build quality feel really solid and havent had any issues with the seltz pumps and is very quiet. To me it was the best bang for the buck at $230. I'd buy it again tomorrow.
Normally I would agree with you but my first bubble blaster failed after a month. It didn't have a chance to get dirty. I'm not bashing them though, I love mine and the replacement pump has been going strong for two years now.
vertex and BK are the same from what I gather. I had the SRO 5000 and it was great! I have the Bk mini 200 now and I love it! I bought it used and the pump died on me 6 months later. I was expecting it though. I had to order the pump directly from Germany...the supplier that use to deal with them has had some issues importing. It's not a bad process, just a few extra steps you need to do. Besides that, it has been an amazing skimmer.
The only one of these that I've owned is bubble king. I have a BKmini200.
As I said I haven't had the others, but I would be confident standing on top of my bk without fear of it breaking. It is also DEAD SILENT, and lets NO BUBBLES back into the tank (and thats not an overstatement).
If the vertex has a red dragon pump, and it is well built it may be a viable option too.
I'm sure they are all great. But, unless something unforseen happens, I'll have a BK from now on.
