Could someone please advice me on exactly how much vinegar should I use for a vinegar bath for a 55 gal tank that has some thick stuffs on the glass. Thanks.

Ive always just wet it with water and used a straight razor blade to scrape stuff off the glass. It doesnt take long. I did it on my 72

I mix 25% vinegar and the rest water in a cheap dollar store spray bottle and let it soak in to the crud by spraying it every 10min for about an hour. Really easy after that. Also I just tried out the magic eraser thing and it works wonders

I'll post thread tomorrow/whenever I get round to it

really? what about maxi jets? i did all mine like that for about 2 hours before rinsing and putting them to use.. i haven't checked for volts but would you say that wasn't long enough to cause damage or should i go check?

Thanks! The original ones were prone to it regardless. The ones that read "NEW" on the corner of the box are the improved ones that no longer do this. I have had both and have never soaked either just simply use a toothbrush and a bucket of water. I have been shocked by a few of the first gen pumps. Never by a second. Can't wait to see some long term reviews on the newest third gen pumps

I used two (1 gallon I think) jugs of vinegar and then filled with tap water in a 24 aquapod left it for 4-5 hours and it came out like new.

Thanks everyone. I'll give it a try this week.

Andyman.....thanks for the heads up on the Koralia. Mine are the newer models but it's good to know in case I come across the older ones.
