This will tell you the nuts and bolts of it. Essentially, it's a very slow gradual process to follow. Keeping a log of this is critical. I HIGHLY recommend obtaining the best nitrate test kit ( I like the Salifert kit). You will want to be on a very proactive testing regiment during this process.
Basically, when you've reached zero nitrates, you will cut the dosage in half and that will be your daily dose. NOTE: Make sure during this process you continue to feed your fish, coral etc. just as you would normally. Same goes for any maintenance you perform. Changing anything adds variables...
If this is a new tank, or your someone new in the hobby, I wouldn't recommend this as the best course of action if you or the tank are beginners JM2C.
